Vientiane: Gringos Taco Bar

If you're an American in Laos hankering for some good old Tex Mex, Gringos Taco Bar is the place for you.

Gringos just opened in August so it's brand new. But it's already a hot spot with American falang.

Gringos serves simple and tasty food with all the Tex Mex staples - tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos and taco salad. You can order beef, chicken, pork or veggie plus sides like sour cream and jalapenos, which you don't see everyday in Vientiane. And be sure to try the homemade chilli sauce.

There's also Coronas and rather potent frozen margaritas. Don't say I didn't warn you.

If you've got kids, you've going to love Gringos even more. Alongside the outdoor eating area is an enclosed, air conditioned play area just for kids.

Yep, the kids get to play it up in air conditioned comfort while the parents sweat outside. That's where the tangy frozen margaritas come in handy.

Off-street parking is also a bonus on the increasingly busy Sokpaluang road. Or, just stop by and get take away. A family pack of tacos on a Friday night - they'll go fast.

Gringos Taco Bar is open for lunch and dinner Monday-Saturday and closed Sunday. It's on hom 9 on Sokpaluang Road. You can't miss the big red sign.
